DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are the go to treatment when we want to replace volume loss in the face or to correct deep wrinkles and to support sagging facial structures.

With dermal fillers we can re-enhance the cheeks and lips, fill out sunken temples or tear troughs and lift the corners of the mouth. We can also plump up the hands, décolletage and earlobes. You can expect the treatment to last between 12 to 18 months depending on which product is used.

Why does volume loss matter?
Over time, your face changes in many ways. This is part of the normal aging process, but genetics and environmental factors can also play a role. Wrinkles and lines aren’t the only signs of aging. Over time, the cheeks flatten, and the skin may begin to sag. This is caused by a natural loss of volume in the cheek area, or what the experts call age-related midface volume loss. Dermal fillers are designed to add volume beneath the skin’s surface to lift and contour the cheek area.
You may notice a change in the appearance of your skin, typically in the form of deepening parentheses lines and wrinkles.
But what may be less obvious is age-related midface volume loss.

What are the signs of volume loss?
Your cheeks may flatten, and the skin may begin to sag.

Parentheses lines are static lines that appear when your face is at rest. This happens overtime as your skin loses some of the building blocks (hyaluronic acid and collagen) that give the skin its structure.

See Dr Alek Nikolic perform various dermal filler techniques in the videos below:

Dr Alek Nikolic demonstrates the technique for cheek augmentation using Juvederm Voluma. A bolus technique is used to achieve maximum lift of underlying facial structures including the jowl and jaw line areas:

Dr Alek Nikolic demonstrates the technique for chin augmentation using Juvederm Voluma. A bolus technique is used to achieve both a forward projection and an increase in chin height or superior to inferior distance. This achieves a lengthening of the chin bringing the upper, mid and lower face back into proportion:

Dr Alek Nikolic demonstrates the technique for eye brow definition using Juvederm Volift. Eye brows can be redefined and made to look more youthful. Dermal fillers can also be used to lift eyebrows as demonstrated by this video:

Dr Alek Nikolic demonstrates the technique for bolus lip enhancement a relatively new technique that is supposed to reduce the chance of bruising. Small micro aliquots are deposited through the skin into the lip mucosa:

Dr Alek Nikolic demonstrates the technique for lip enhancement with a needle. Natural results can be achieved as this is dependent on where the filler is placed and the amount of filler used:

Dr Alek Nikolic demonstrates the technique for lip enhancement and vermillion border definition using a micro cannula. Micro cannulas are typically used to help prevent bruising and when treating lose to a vital vascular structure:

Dr Alek Nikolic demonstrates the technique for melomental fold correction with a needle. This area is also referred to as the marionette lines or corner of mouth. The aim is to reduce the appearance of fat loss in this area and to support and lift the mouth corner:

Dr Alek Nikolic demonstrates the technique for temple enhancement using the singe bolus technique. This is a safe, natural and effective technique to reduce the appearance of temple depression caused by fat loss and ageing:

Dr Alek Nikolic demonstrates the technique for the pre jowl sulcas. This is the area between the jowl and the chin and as we age a loss of fat causes a visible depression. By filling this area we can give the appearance of a reduced jowl and a smoother and more streamlined jaw:
